The organizers of the Healthy Ageing Tour have decided to add a third competition category to the programm. Next to the international stages for junior and elite women there will be a event for Para-Cyclysts from the 4th until the 6th of April. This combination makes it a worldwide unique event.

Para-Cycling will be integrated completely into the existing programm and will, on the named days, make use of the same parcours and entourage as the other events. Therefore, this event was added tot he 2018 calendar of the international cycling federation UCI.

The stage course offers the opportunity for men and women to start in two categories with competitions for the C-class (C1-C5) and the tandemclass. On wednesday the riders will be treated to a circuit, followed by a classic race on thursday and an Individual Time Trial on friday.

We are going to fully integrate the para-cyclists within our event

Thijs Rondhuis, race director

Course director Thijs Rondhuis thinks that next to a an event for elite women and an event for developing talents (junior women), the time has come to add a competition for para-cyclists. Especially since there aren’t many multi stage events on the international calendar. Which is why the UCI was happy to support the event. “We are going to fully integrate the para-cyclists within our event. We are able to offer them a stage within the existing entourage surrounding the event thanks to the general interest, especially for the elite women. Just like for the other athletes, Pagedal in Stadskanaal will be the base during their stay in the Northern Netherlands.
